GNB Update

Here's what's happening for Thursday at GNB...

Efforts to enact a new law that would ban texting while driving have hit a snag. The Georgia Legislative Watch reports that questions over the enforcement of the proposed legislation have led to the formation of a study committee.

Atlanta's mayor helps a former opponent. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Mayor Kasim Reed will headline a reception to help retire the debt of former mayoral candidate Lisa Borders. It's estimated at $150,000. Borders told the AJC that Reed is helping a friend in need, while critics say it's political payback.

Atlanta-based Coca-Cola hopes to gain a bigger share of the Super Bowl ad business. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that billionaire businessman Montgomery Burns from the animated TV series "The Simpsons" will be the focus of this year's campaign. The AJC also says Coke products will have a bigger presence at this year's game than Pepsi products.
