City council OK Falcons stadium, bond issue put on hold

The Atlanta Falcons bid to build a new stadium cleared one last hurdle Monday night.

The Atlanta City Council voted 11-4 to approve the construction of the $1 billion facility, with at least $200 million worth of bonds financed with public money.

Deal to announce new DeKalb school board members Wednesday

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal will announce the names of six new DeKalb County school board members Wednesday.  That move comes after Deal removed six sitting board members from office recently.

Falcons, City of Atlanta reach deal on new stadium

The Atlanta Falcons are one step closer to getting a new stadium.

The Falcons and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed reached a deal on Thursday that paves the way for construction of a $1 billion facility that will be built next to the Georgia Dome.  The agreement must still get final approval from the Atlanta City Council.
