Reward offered in whooping crane killings

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service needs your help to find out why three whooping cranes were killed in southwest Georgia's Calhoun County in late December.  Officials are offering a reward of more than 12-thousand dollars for information regarding the deaths of the endangered birds.

Deal sworn in as Governor

The Nathan Deal era has started in earnest.  The former U.S. Congressman was sworn as Georgia's 82nd governor on Monday.  In his inauguration speech, Deal says the Peach State must become self-reliant when it comes to getting the economy back on track.

Houston schools to stay closed Tuesday

At least one extra day of vacation for school children in middle Georgia.  The Warner Robins Patriot reports that schools in Houston County will remain closed all day Tuesday.  EMA officials there fear that the roads are dangerous for any travel in the morning, due to the large amount of snow in the "Robins"
region.

UGA shuts down WNEG...

Say goodbye to the only commercial television station in Athens.  OnlineAthens.com reports that the University of Georgia shut down WNEG-TV Friday.  That leaves 17 employees looking to find new jobs.  UGA officials say that WNEG will be re-named WUGA-TV, and will become a public broadcasting station by this spring.
