Anchor says goodbye

Longtime WGXA Macon news anchor Portia Lake has called it quits.

She's leaving the station to pursue other opportunities in broadcast journalism.  Lake has worked at the FOX/ABC affiliate for the last 10 years.

New Falcons stadium deal taking shape

State Senate OKs ethics measure

The Georgia General Assembly hasn't even been in session a full 72 hours, and already, controversy is brewing.

Lawmakers likely to avoid transit funding

Metro Atlanta commuters hoping to see funding for public transportation might be in for a disappointment this year.

WALB names new News Director

The end of an era is near for one of Georgia's heritage television stations. WALB.com in Albany reports that longtime WALB news anchor Dawn Hobby will anchor her final newscast on Friday. She will became the NBC/ABC affiliate new News Director, replacing Rick Williams, who had been the news director for more than two decades.  He moves on to Biloxi, Mississippi to become the General Manager of ABC affiliate WLOX.

Say hello to Georgia's newest university

Georgia now has a new university.  The University of North Georgia was officially chartered by the University System of Georgia on Tuesday.  The move comes as a result of a merger between the former Gainesville State College and North Georgia College and State University.
